Victory for our military families, Church that pickets soldiers funerals with signs that say "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" found liable

Today a Federal Jury found the Westboro Baptist church liable for invasion of privacy and intent to inflict emotional distress for picketing a soldiers funeral while carrying signs that said "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" and "God hates Fags." The awarded the family of the soldier who brought suit 2.9 Million in compensatory damages and are beginning deliberations on punitive damages. Earlier in the day the church and its founders had been protesting outside the courthouse. From breitbart.com,
"Earlier, church members staged a demonstration outside the federal courthouse, which is located on a busy thoroughfare a few blocks west of Baltimore's Inner Harbor, while passing motorists honked and shouted insults.
Church founder Fred Phelps held a sign reading "God is your enemy," while his daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper stood on an American flag while carrying a sign that read "God hates fag enablers." Members of the group sang "God Hates America,"' to the tune of "God Bless America."

I am glad to see this scary religious group being punished for these outrageous actions. This group is an insult to religious groups and Americans and it appears they are getting their just punishment.

When Hillary is called out for talking out of both sides of her mouth who does she blame? Tim Russert for being "belligerent"

As everyone most likely has already heard last night was a bad night to be Hillary. In Democratic Debate 400 her opponents finally tried to make her give answers that actually mean something, what happened? She self-destructed by speaking out of both sides of her mouth.

She was asked what she though of Gov. Eliot Spitzer's plan to give illegals drivers licenses. She rambled for a while a ultimately defended his plan. When Chris Dodd was called on next and said that he disagreed with Hillary that Illegals should get drives license she shot back "I did not say that." In response Russert asked a follow up, "You told New Hampshire paper that it made a lot of sense. Do you support his plan?” Hillary who could not give a straight answer responded, "You know, Tim, this is where everybody plays gotcha."

Then came the barrage,

Edwards

“Unless I missed something, Sen. Clinton said two different things in the course of about two minutes. America is looking for a president who will say the same thing, who will be consistent, who will be straight with them.”

Obama

“I was confused by Sen. Clinton's answer. I can't tell whether she was for it or against it. One of the things that we have to do in this country is to be honest about the challenges that we face.”

So could Hillary bring herself to accept that she needed to be straight with the American people. No, she sent out an operative to claim that Moderator Tim Russert was unfair. "He bordered on the unprofessional, and He broke debate rules and was BELLIGERENT."

Hardly Hillary, the only person who is Belligerent is you, with your disregard with treating the American People with any kind of Respect. You are not the emperor or Queen you are running for President. Time for you to be honest with the American People even if you don't know how since you never have been before.

Kucinich questions Bush's Mental Health and then talks about seeing UFO; Someone is Crazy not sure it is Bush

Dennis Kucinich made new yesterday by questioning President Bush's mental health. He then followed that up by bringing more attention to the issue of Mental Health in the deabte last night. In response to a Tim Russert question about whether a claim made in a book that he had seen a UFO and that he had a warm feeling and felt attached to it, Kucinich admitted the encounter. Dennis Kucinich has shown throught the past several election cycles that he is unfit to be President. I am starting to question those who keep sending him back to serve them in Congress. He does not respect the role of Government laid out in the Constitution and now there should be a real debate on his mental health.

Acorn employees sentenced for Voter Fraud, but no media coverage because It is just another incident of liberal corruption covered up by the media

Three Acorn employees were sentenced after pleading quility of voter fraud. One was sentenced to 30 days in jail while the others are getting 120 days each. Three more have pleaded not quilty and will be in court in November.

This is just another incident of the the media covering up democratic corruption while focusing on the personal lives of Republican members. This is unacceptable people need to be made away of how ACORN has time and time again come in conflict with the law and that many democratic members and orgaizations have been corrupted. The media owes it to America to report this more than the personal lives elected officials and celebrities. It is funny how this is form the same far-left groups that swore their was voter fraud in the 2006 election until the democrats won. Then nothing wrong went wrong.

Kucinich Questions Bush's Mental Health, Intresting because I have always questioned his

Dennis Kucinich, the democratic presidential cantidate today questioned President Bush's mental health. This comes in the aftermath of the President saying that Iran getting nuclear capability could lead to World War III. "I seriously believe we have to start asking questions about his mental health," Kucinich said, "There's something wrong. He does not seem to understand his words have real impact." Apparently Mr. Kucinich shoud listen to his own advice. It seems to me you should also think before questioning the mental health of a sitting President of the United States.
I find that I have always questioned the mental health of this bizarre Presidential Canidate. First, this is second attempt for the democratic nomination even though he had very little support even last time he ran. His ideas for our country are so far to the left not only are many not constiutional they would make America look for socialist than democratic. He seems to never have met a government run program they he does not like. He takes that even further by coming up with ideas that would make most operations of the United States run under government control.
He went on to say, "You cannot be a president of the United States who's wanton in his expression of violence." I dont think you can be President if you do not respect the freedoms people have from their government.

Murtha is going to be challanged in 2008 by career army soldier

Representative John Murtha, the anti-war poster child of the democrats will be challenged in 2008. He is being challenged by William Russell a career army soldier. Murtha's constant anti-war message has caused a backlash among conservatives in his district that has man defense related jobs. While Murtha has cited his experience with wounded veterans as why he is in favor of a full withdrawal from Iraq, Russell has the opposite outlook. Russell feels that cutting and running would make the sacrifice of the soldiers in Iraq pointless. On the campaign trail Russell refers to Murtha's views on the war as just flat wrong. He also condemns Murtha's reliance on earmarks and pork barrel budgeting.

While William Russell may not have a real chance at unseating the Democratic chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, at least someone is willing to challenge this corrupt Member of Congress who was once an unindicted co-conspirator in a corruption case.

Edwards Plans for America, not all they're cracked up to be

John Edwards has been releasing a barage of ideas on policies that he would like to implement if he became President. John Edwards wants the government to pay for Universal Pre-Kindergarten, have the government provide matching savings accounts, mandate a minimum wage of $9.50 an hour, and a government run program called "College for Everyone" to provide college educations for everyone. He believes this should all be government funded and be paid for by higher taxes. Edwards goes on to say that, "There are no free meals," but that is exactly what he wants to provide.

Universal Pre-K

Universal Pre-K is one of those things that sounds good on the stump, but in reality is just not a great idea. First, we are not even getting K-12 correct yet. Why expand the education system when we can not even face the failing of the current systems we have in place. This is a move to create a new free lunch program to pay for babysitting for children instead of education. We as a country do not have a duty to provide for every child from birth to graduation from college. This is a family responsibility.

Government Matching Savings Accounts

Edwards proposes another free lunch program here also. American does not have any Constitutional power to do such a thing. We as a society should do everything we can to encourage saving. It is not the job of our government to provide matching funds for those that do so. This is a gross injustice to the federal governments taxing power. Money should not be taken from some just to be given to other people for the sake of doing it.

Minimum Wage Increase

John Edwards loves the idea of increasing the minimum wage. The problem with this proposal is that it really does not help people. Artifical floors and ceilings on prices do not work in the long run. The fact is that such an increase in the minimum wage will do more to destroy the middle class than anything else. Most in the middle class are salaried employess who make very modest salaries. When the minimum wage is increased prices also increase by the same amount because costs are passed through to the consumers. These middle class salaried employees do not see an increase in their salaries and if they do not by the amount of the increase in prices. So the middle class salaried employees are pulled closer to the poverty line while the workers who see the increase in wages have no more purchasing power.

College for Everyone

John Edwards proposal for College for Everyone is good for publicity but nothing more than pandering. Here in the United States we already have a system that allows people aid to go to college. Our Financial Aid system provides government subsidized loans to those who need assistance to pay for college. Second, the idea that everyone should go to College is a fallacy in operation. By having everyone go to college you just devalue the advantage of a college degree. You create a domino effect where a high school diplomia is even more devalued and a college degree is the basic starting point. So now those who want to get ahead need to get a masters degree. Those that would have gotten a Masters degree before get a PHD instead. This just removes any advantage to these degrees. Instead we should instead focus on improving our High School system. Those who would like to pursue a vocation that does not require a college degree should be encouraged and provided vocational training that they need. Those that plan on going to college should recieve the college preperation they need. This is a realistic approach not a one size fits all of a College for Everyone program.

John Edwards likes rhetoric and pandering. How else could he advocate that there are no free lunches while pushing proposals creating them. John Edwards has taken an platform of running for President by raising taxes and creating massive new government programs. This traditionally has not worked. Walter Mondale has been here and done that and We must assume and hope the results will be the same. It always sounds good when government gives things away, but someone has to pay and the effect of that will destroy and economy and create a larger government that our Constitution never intended. Always Remember a Government powerful enough to give you everything is also powerful enough to take your freedoms away.

Nanny State Alert:NYC tries again to get calories on menus

NYC is at it again. After a federal judge shoot down their last attempt to get calorie totals on menus they want to try again. They want to make this information as prominant as the price. Come on, the information is avaliable and it should not be the job of government to attempt to influence people on what to eat. This is just the latest in attempts to try to get government to tell us how to do everything. Luckily Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoed a smiliar law in California. Rep. Charles Rangel proposes the largest Tax Increase in US History

Chairman Rangel proposed the Largest Tax Increase in the history of the United States last night. He wants to increase taxes 3.5 Trillion over the next ten years. Lets break down how Charles Rangel and the Democrats want to destroy the United States economy and move us towards a Nanny State.

4% Surtax on Americans earning over 150,000 a year and 200,000 for couples

Allow the Expiration of the Bush tax cuts that have spured economic growth

Raise the top Marginal tax rate from 35% to 44%

The details of the proposal make it even worse. The surtax on income is not on taxable income it is on gross income, something that is has never been taxed like this before. It also provides for the worst marriage penalty we have ever faced. Two sucessful spouses will be overly punished just for getting married because if a spouse makes as little as 50,000 a year they face higher taxes.

The joke that the paygo system is, gets exposed in this measure. Rangel insists that he must pay for AMT tax increases that were never inteded to happen. He believes that the 3.5 Trillion of a mistake that everyone agrees the AMT has "accidently created" has to be paid for. Money that has not been collected by the government is not a loss to government and should not have to be paid for. This just shows the shallow thinking of the Democrats. The could never handle not allowing the Government Revenue to increase by unreasonable means. What is the goal of this. Wealth Redistribution! How else do we expect the Democrats to pay for all their unreasonable proposals?

Rudy apparently make deal with devil to support Red Sox; What is the devil going to do make him the Republican Nominee, God forbid!

The New York Daily News today is reporting today that when asked in July if he could ever root for the Red Sox, "He went on to say he had "great respect" for true Red Sox fans, but as for becoming a Red Sox cheerleader in a Devil's bargain, "Probably that's a deal I could not make," he said." This comment came after being asked the question, "If the Devil said you can be President if you become a Red Sox fan, would you do it?" So has a deal been cut?

Rudy also had this to say, "I'm a Yankee fan," Giuliani replied then. "I always believe it's a sign of my being straight with people, about not wanting to fool them, that I was one of the first mayors to be willing to say I was a Yankee fan."

So it now appears that it is ok for Rudy to "fool people" and he so wants to be President that he may really have cut a deal with the devil. There is a long list of reasons why Rudy is wrong for the Republican Party as well as wrong for America. This is just the latest sign of the ultimate poltical pandering that he will use to get a shot at the Presidency but like always I guess the Devil is in the details.

CNN Predicts Possible 'Century of Fires' Due to Global Warming, but only after they were told to do so

On CNN Anderson Cooper claimed that a century of fires was possible due to global warming. Why would someone make such a claim that is clearly not provable or likely? Well their Network President told them to do it. The Drudge Report disclosed the following today, "According to notes from CNN's Monday news meeting network president Jon Klein tells employees to use the California fire tragedy to "push" their "Planet in Peril" special, but warns reporters not to "irresponsibly link" the fires to "Global Warming."

So why report the news when you can just make claims to promote a series that has been critized for being propaganda.

Code Pink has shown time and time again that instead of a rational discussion of ideas they have decided that spitting on the institutions of the United States in a better philopsophy. Time has come for Congress to take a stand and forbid the Code Pink Women from coming into the halls of Congress. They have showed that they can not be trusted to act in a rational manner. Our system of government was set up to allow for discussions of ideas, but in any represenative form of government you do not always get your way. When you are not getting your way it is not rational to time and time again come to serious meeting and disrupt them with high school level stunts. I respect all people who bring ideas to the table, but I do not respect people who can not operate in a rational society. I can only hope that those in the anti-war movement will condemn this group for their shameful tatics.

Sen. Reid: Global Warming caused California Fires; Give me a break!

Yesterday when asked about aid going to California to help those suffering from the wildfires Senator Reid made an intresting observation. “One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. He then went on to talk about the need to pass the massive energy package. This shows the leveling of pandering and widespread fear that is used by the Climate Change Alarmists. They will not miss a chance to try to use fear to push their social agenda. It is time for Americans to stand up to this fear mongering. Wildfires have existed in California long before global warming fears. Santa Ana winds have existed for many years and have nothing to do with Climate Change.

Fred Thompson Unveils Immigration Plan

Fred Thompson today unveiled his Immigration and Border Security Plan. This plan is a common sense approach to fixing the problems we are facing. Oddly enough it was released even while Congress continues to force Amnesty on us by bringing the Dream Act up again and again.

Border Security and Immigration Reform Plan
In the post-9/11 world, immigration is much more of a national security issue. A government that cannot secure its borders and determine who may enter and who may not, fails in a fundamental responsibility. As we take steps to secure our borders and enforce our laws, we must also ensure that our immigration laws and policies advance our national interests in a variety of areas, and that the immigration process itself is as fair, efficient, and effective as possible.

Securing the Border and Enforcing the Law

A fundamental responsibility of the federal government is to secure the nation's borders and enforce the law. The following policies and initiatives will put the nation on a path to success:

No Amnesty. Do not provide legal status to illegal aliens. Amnesty undermines U.S. law and policy, rewards bad behavior, and is unfair to the millions of immigrants who follow the law and are awaiting legal entry into the United States. In some cases, those law-abiding and aspiring immigrants have been waiting for several years.

Attrition through Enforcement. Reduce the number of illegal aliens through increased enforcement against unauthorized alien workers and their employers. Without illegal employment opportunities available, fewer illegal aliens will attempt to enter the country, and many of those illegally in the country now likely will return home. Self-deportation can also be maximized by stepping up the enforcement levels of other existing immigration laws. This course of action offers a reasonable alternative to the false choices currently proposed to deal with the 12 million or more aliens already in the U.S. illegally: either arrest and deport them all, or give them all amnesty. Attrition through enforcement is a more reasonable and achievable solution, but this approach requires additional resources for enforcement and border security:

Doubling ICE agents handling interior enforcement, increasing the Border Patrol to at least 25,000 agents, and increasing detention space to incarcerate illegal aliens we arrest rather than letting them go with a promise to show up later for legal proceedings against them.

Adding resources for the Department of Justice to prosecute alien smugglers, people involved in trafficking in false identification documents, and previously deported felons.

Maximizing efforts to prosecute and convict members of criminal alien gangs, such as MS-13 and affiliated gangs. These gangs have brought unusual levels of violence to more than 30 U.S. states and have also become very active in drug-smuggling, gun-smuggling, and alien-smuggling.

Implementing fully and making greater use of the expedited removal process already allowed under federal law.

Enabling the Social Security Administration to share relevant information with immigration and law enforcement personnel in a manner that will support effective interior enforcement efforts.

Enforce Existing Federal Laws. Enforce the laws Congress has already enacted to prevent illegal aliens from unlawfully benefiting from their presence in the country:

End Sanctuary Cities by cutting off discretionary federal grant funds as appropriate to any community that, by law, ordinance, executive order, or other formal policy directs its public officials not to comply with the provisions of 8 USC 1373 and 8 USC 1644, which prohibit any state or local government from restricting in any way communications with the Department of Homeland Security regarding the immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of an alien in the United States.

Deny discretionary Federal education grants as appropriate to public universities that violate federal law by offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens without also offering identical benefits to United States citizens, regardless of whether or not they live in the state, as required by 8 USC 1623.

Deny discretionary Federal grants as appropriate to states and local governments that violate federal law by offering public benefits to illegal aliens, as prohibited by 8 USC 1621(a).

Reduce the Jobs Incentive. Ensure employee verification by requiring that all U.S. employers use the Department of Homeland Security's electronic database (the E-Verify system) to confirm that a prospective employee is authorized to work in the U.S. Now that the technology is proven, provide sufficient resources to make the system as thorough, fast, accurate, and easy-to-use as possible.

Bolster Border Security. Finish building the 854-mile wall along the border by 2010 as required by 8 USC 1103. Extend the wall beyond that as appropriate and deploy new technologies and additional resources to enhance detection and rapid apprehension along our borders by 2012.

Increased Prosecution. Deploy the additional assets outlined above to prosecute alien smugglers ("coyotes"), alien gang members, previously deported felons, and aliens who have repeatedly violated our immigration laws much more vigorously.

Rigorous Entry/Exit Tracking. Complete the implementation of a system to track visa entrants and exits, as has been required by federal law for more than ten years, and connect it to the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC), in order to curb visa overstays and permit more effective enforcement.
Improving the Legal Immigration Process
The United States is a nation of immigrants. We must continue to welcome immigrants and foreign workers who come to our country legally, giving priority to those who can advance the nation's interests and common good. Immigrants and foreign workers who play by the rules need to be rewarded with faster and less burdensome service, not delays that last years. Advancing the following initiatives will require close cooperation between all levels of government, the business community, and concerned citizens:

Maximize Program Efficiency. Reduce the backlogs and streamline the process for immigrants and employers who seek to follow the law. Also, simplify and expedite the application processes for temporary visas. This can be accomplished by hiring more personnel at Citizenship and Immigration Services and the FBI. Caps for any category of temporary work visa would be increased as appropriate, if it could be demonstrated that there are no Americans capable and willing to do the jobs.

Enhanced Reporting. Improve reporting to the government by businesses that rely on temporary workers so that the government can track whether the visa holder remains employed.

Modernize Immigration Law/Policy. Change the nature of our legal immigration system to welcome immigrants who can be economic contributors to our country, are willing to learn the English language, and want to assimilate.

Reduce the scope of chain migration by giving family preference in the allocation of lawful permanent resident status only to spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens, and no one else (no siblings, no parents, no adult children, etc.).

Eliminate the diversity visa lottery.
English As Official Language. Make English the official language of the United States to promote assimilation and legal immigrants' success, and require English proficiency in order for any foreign person to be granted lawful permanent resident status.

Freedom from Political Oppression. Preserve U.S. laws and policies to ensure that the United States remains a beacon and a haven for persons fleeing political oppression, while assuring appropriate admission standards are maintained.

Service to Country. Place those foreign persons who are lawfully present in the country and who serve honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States on a faster, surer track to U.S. citizenship.

Why then are they now looking after obesity.

Huffington post calls voter ID laws "Modern Day Poll Tax"

In what I found as a bizarre turn of events the Supreme Court Recently took up a case that will look at the legaility of requiring voters to present IDs to cast their ballots. I must admit I have never seen the issue in why this is such an outrageous requirement. People are asked to present picture IDs all the time for routine tasks. Matthew Segal wrote in an article for the Huffington Post made this claim, "The bill is tantamount to a modern day "poll-tax," that forces many eligible voters to pay for a government-issued photo ID." This is outrageous statment that is aimed at making this a racial issue when it is not one.

While it sounds nice to say this is a unfair requirement IDs are required pretty much to do anything in life these days. Many states actually require the possession of such an ID for identification purposes. I do not see the problem with requiring an ID to vote. It is not a shocking statement to say that there are some people here in America that do not follow the rules. What is wrong with making sure the people who come to vote are who they claim to be. Mr Seagal claims, "One could argue that voter ID laws are more about partisan politics than cleaning up elections, as they primarily affect demographics that suggest a particular party affiliation." One could also argue that people are making an issue out of this because it gets in the way of commiting voter fraud. I firmly believe that the only reason people find this requirement out of line is because it gets in the way of thier attempts manipulate the election system.

Jimmy Carter calls Cheney a "disaster"; Hello Pot let me introduce you to Kettle

Jimmy Carter decided today to call Vice President Cheney a disaster. This follows him commenting earlier this year that President Bush is the worst President ever. It is pretty strange to hear this kind of rhetoric from Jimmy Carter. President Carter is not well respected for his term in office. So his credibility in characterizing the effectivness of other administrations seems a little questionable. Second, Ex-Presidents represent us all. You do not see President Clinton walking around bashing other people, it is not something ex-presidents do. It seems that he may be doing some of this for his own benefit to see if he can some how manage to see his adminisration seen in better light before his life is over.

This film was inteded to present the opinion of Al Gore and what he thinks should be done to prevent it. It is not a subsitute for real academic learning. This is proof to me that our school system is broken. Why are teachers showing these kinds of movies and not teaching them real science. Here in America schools are showing this biased film as if it were complete fact. I hope that a judge here in America will show the same common sense that this English Judge did. Lets educate our children not brainwash them.

More Big Government for Hillary, 401Ks run by the Government and Tax Credits for all

Hillary has decided that government run healthcare is not enough; she now wants to have a government run 401k system. Today she laid out a plan for a government run 401K plan with what she calls "American Retirement Accounts." She also calls for a tax credit of $500 or $1000 to encourage people to save, and she will pay for it by freezing the estate tax. She will make these accounts voluntary. Hillary maybe has spent too many years out of the mainstream of America. Portable retirement funds are available everywhere, you can even sign up for one online in three minutes. We already have tax incentives to save in these accounts. What Hillary now wants to do is to take away the free market from Investments. She could propose to change the tax code without having a government takeover of retirement accounts. What is wrong with T Rowe Price or Vanguard. Hillary makes it clear with this proposal that she has never me a government bureaucracy that she does not like. Let’s take something the free market already offers and have the government run it. Either she does not understand the Constitution or finds it inconvenient. It is time that people stand up to Big Government advocates and make them respect the free market and the Constitution of the United States of America.
